Pokémon Moon takes players on a tropical journey across the Alola archipelago, a region made up of four natural islands and one man-made island. Breaking away from the series’ traditional Gym structure, Moon introduces the Island Challenge, where players complete diverse Trials set by Trial Captains and defeat formidable Totem Pokémon before facing each island’s Kahuna in a Grand Trial.
Your adventure begins by choosing Rowlet, Litten, or Popplio as your partner Pokémon. Throughout your journey, you will encounter regional Alolan Forms—classic Pokémon adapted to Alola’s unique climate with new types and appearances. Pokémon Moon introduces Z-Moves, powerful elemental attacks that can be used once per battle when holding specific Z-Crystals. As you explore, you will tangle with Team Skull, a group of local misfits, and the Aether Foundation, an organization researching alien Ultra Beasts. Featuring a day/night cycle shifted by 12 hours from your 3DS internal clock, Ride Pokémon replacing HMs, and deep story lore surrounding the Legendary Pokémon Lunala, Pokémon Moon delivers a fresh entry to the series.
